Week 2

June 5 - June 11

For me, this week was much like an extention of last week. I continued to learn and get familiar with the software we will be using. In addition to GameStudio and GameMaker, I have started to do some tutorials with Unreal. The final game that is produced will be in Unreal; however, GameStudio and GameMaker are important for us to know in order to implement prototypes.

We also had a meeting this week to share our quest ideas with the rest of the group. Everyone has really good ideas about things we can do. Although, some of the ideas need to be written out in more detail. It is more difficult than I would think to storyboard ideas. We keep getting stuck on how to get input from the player. I think this is something that we are going to to have to work out as we go along. We might have different quests, depending on their difficulty, use different types of input. This is probably something that we are going to have to test in order to really know what will work the best.

Since I am one of the members of the team that is more interested in the HCI aspect of the project, I also took a little time this week to think about testing. We are hoping that by the end of the summmer we will be far enough along in the project to test prototypes. To start off, I have just looked online and through my old tests and such for example questions that we might ask a subject before or after playing a prototype.
