This week, we had another Digital Friendship Workshop; Actually, we had two. It's been a couple of weeks now since we had our last one! The workshops were shorter than usual, though; they were only two hours each. As the last ones, they were learning experiences that helped us get valuable feedback on KidGab.
I spent the rest of the week working on the plugin that we are building to obtain the data for our research project. This meant learning a lot about PHP and XML (and XML parsing). It took a lot of continous work, but I was able to finish the first task, which was to automatically generate pages without the need of having different functions to do so; instead, there is one PHP function that will parse the corresponding XML file and generate the page accordingly. I had a lot of fun learning these tools I had never worked with before. On to the next task!
During the weekend, I had my parents visit me! They drove all the way from Florida to Texas just to see me, for which I am beyond thankful. While I am quite used to living and working here and do not really feel homesick, I still do get that feeling of missing my close family (parents and boyfriend) here and there. We spent the weekend in Killeen visiting a friend of my mother's and I finally ate Puerto Rican food again! Her friend and her husband made us feel right at home. We came back to College Station and just chilled once we got here. It was a good weekend. :-)
