I finally finished the illustrations for KidGab's new Choose Your Own Adventure story! It took me longer than I expected (I was naive enough to believe I was going to be able to finish them in one day... it ended up taking almost a week!), because it was pretty painful for my eyes and also my pen strokes were a little rusty (took a lot of undo and redo to finish my linearts). Anyways, the story was finally released and it's super awesome to see my illustrations online, for other girls to see!
Other than that, I began to work on one of the games that we plan to release on KidGab. We decided to go for a memory game. Initially, I was planning to use Unity for game development, but I found it a little too complicated for what we were going for. So, instead, I ended up looking up some tutorials online and managed to build the memory game using Javascript, HTML and CSS. The logic of the game is pretty much done, but I need to implement other features such as timer and points, which I plan to continue next week.
On Friday, some of my fellow REU students and I went to Red Lobster. It was a very hot 35 minute walk, but it was so worth it! The food was delicious. It was the first Friday afternoon that I had off, so it was pretty cool. On Saturday morning, my boyfriend's parents came to pick me up and we went to Dallas to visit him. We ate at Old Fashioned Hamburgers, and it was so good! We also visited the Reunion Tower and got to a pretty nice view of the city of Dallas. It was amazing getting to see my boyfriend and have a nice chat in person while enjoying the view. It really has given me the extra boost of happiness that I needed to continue working and giving it my all. :-) On Sunday, we ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel to celebrate Father's Day and, sadly, had to part ways shortly after. However, I look forward to visiting once again in July!
