And it all begins
On June 18th, I arrived at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). It was an interesting
ordeal as had to find a way to my home airport, a way from the Pittsburgh airport
to CMU, and to my summer housing from CMU campus. Finding a way to my airport was
interesting because my plane left early in the morning and I had no ride due to
circumstances. Graciously, my friend rode the subway with me to the airport.
While at the airport, my flight to Pittsburgh got delayed several times. I was glad
that I did not set any meeting on this day. I had a nice and educational conversation
with the airlines' former worker while I waited who was also taking the same plane
to Pittsburgh. It was a short trip once I finally boarded the plane. After landing,
I searched out for food since I knew the bus ride to CMU would be an hour long.
Next, I waited for a long time for my baggage. It turns out my baggage was placed
at the wrong carousel. This is traveling 21st Century!
The bus ride to CMU was excellent. I exited the bus and made the walk down Morewood
Avenue, which would be common during my summer experience. I entered the apartment
relieved my walking was completed. (I was pulling two suitcases) Once I got settled
down, I walked back to CMU to have a meeting with my mentor, Jessica Hodgins.
On Tuesday, I had a meeting with my mentor and my assistant mentor, Ron Metoyer.
We discussed our meeting schedule, the research goals, and SIGGRAPH conference.
Wednesday's highlight was a meeting where Alla gave her SIGGRAPH presentation.
This meeting was a highlight because I saw the SIGGRAPH preparation which included
feedback from peers. I also started work on DMP website. It's interesting how a
website seems simple and quickly becomes complex.
The week ended with reviewing related papers to our research and movie outing with
my Pittsburgh friend, Ricky. We went to see Ocean 13.
