This week I have completely finalized my project and started brainstorming ideas. My job is to come up with a network power model for two routing protocols AODV and DSR, and to simulate and verify my model. Yong has done this same sort of thing to model the performance and success rates of the protocols. He gave me this paper yesterday, and working with his model, I have been finding similarities between this model and one for power. I believe that the power consumption of the network is dependent on the success rate, but cannot be completely encapsulated by this model. There are other variables that come into play with the power model. Since none of my ideas have been confirmed, I will save them for next week's journal entry. I started this week familiarizing myself yet some more with NS-2. On Monday, I will meet with Yong again, and he will step me through some of the code, so that I can approach the simulations a little more easily. Yong keeps stressing the importance of coming up with such a model, and I am really hoping to come up with something that will work.
