Thriving Third Week
This week, I did my first bit of web programming in HTML and JavaScript. Tim, one of the doctoral students, needed an error webpage for a project he was working on. So, I created it! You can see a screenshot of the website content below.
My group also completed first order coding. We started discussing larger themes (second order codes) that we could use to categorize the data. Once the qualitative data was categorized, we would be able to statistically analyze it.

This weekend, I was sent by Dr. Camp to meet other students researching here for the summer.
Their first activity was held at Bradford Woods Outdoor and Leadership Center. We spent the weekend doing team-building exercises and using the climbing equipment. Although it was physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting, I had a great time.
I learned a lot about myself that weekend. I have always viewed myself as weak, especially physically. However, I learned and exhibited strength and leadership skills as I worked with others to complete team tasks that were a mixture of physical and mental challenges. I also made it to the top of one climbing wall and 3/4 of the way up the second most difficult climbing wall. I was so proud of my perseverance and strength.
My favorite activity of the weekend was the alpine tower.

It is a mixture of climbing equipment that leads up to a platform that is 50 feet in the air. There were rope nets, climbing holds, Jacob's ladders, and a variety of other physical ways to scale the tower. I went up multiple times, picking different paths to test the difficulty. It was a stress-relieving, enjoyable time.
My takeaway from the weekend was a quote from Pooh Bear's Christopher Robin:
"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
