Week 1
The first week I got in to LA before the weekend and just hung out and learned the area. I move into my apartment, set up utilities and the like, and went to the LA Zoo. Since Monday was Memorial Day I started working on Tues of that first week. Most of what I did was read papers on Cloud Computing and do a tutorial on how to run workflows on a grid (the precursor to the cloud). My mentor comes in around 10 and leaves and little after 4, so that's what I've been doing. It's been interesting meeting all the people here, grad students, professors, and others, and going out to lunch with them each day. I've also been given some project ideas and will hopefully be finalizing that next week.
