Week 7: July 5 - July 11

Wow. This week really zoomed by. I would have to dub the week as the Week of Resolution. Mike and I were able to work through several issues residing in both the PBASIC Scribbler code and in the Python code. In addition, we were able to get multi-threading to work! This means I can control more than one Scribbler at a time. With this breakthrough, I was finally able to implement some of the code for our algorithm. Unfortunately, the Scribblers aren't the most robust of creatures, so the algorithm needs to work around their weaknesses. I am glad though that I can focus on the final goal without having to get too bogged down with Scribbler issues. The idea is that the algorithm should work with other robots (ones that are more able-bodied). The focus is not on the Scribblers but on the process.

Maria stopped by on Friday to see our progress. She seemed satisfied and was confident that we could complete the task by the end of the summer. She will be gone for all of next week, so hopefully we can continue to make good progress despite her absence.

Even though the realization frightens me some, the end of the summer is coming quickly. While I still have a few weeks to go, I need to start working on my final report. Hopefully by the end of next week, I will have an outline and perhaps a rough draft sketched out. Technical writing is not my strong suit, so I want to give myself enough time for multiple versions.

The highlight of the week was on Wednesday when I went to the Twins game. It was my first game of the summer, and I was able to get together with many of my friends from college. It was a really great game! We played the Yankees. I knew it would be tough, but I had faith that we could win. It was close, but unfortunately the Twins lost. I had a great time regardless!
