~ I finished reading at least 20 articles in the past week ~ none so far ~ dealing with computer crashes
~ staying focused on the readings for hours at a time
~HIGHLIGHTS~
WednesdayThursdayFridayMondayTuesday
More focused reading on Group Information Retrieval (IR) More Group IR reading, including the topics of group memory, and expertise location. I started looking at graduate school information, including GRE details and graduate fellowships More reading with the theme of search methods including browsing and querying. There is a Venn diagram approach to querying Started reading Group IR articles by Twidale and Grudin. I found an interesting lecture site that Microsoft hosts 2nd iMed group meeting, with review of the LitLinker System Architecture and brainstorming for interface ideas.

The past week has passed. I'm not sure that it went by quickly, but I read A LOT, and have gained more experience and familiarity with reading technical papers, and picking out main points. I like the articles that contain screen shots of the interfaces best.

Some of the key points that I have gleaned from my readings so far are:
~ social interaction using an interface
~ various modes of search including browsing and querying
~ precision and recall
~ annotation and metadata
~ query refinement
~ graphical vs. textual interface
