Week Nine
Just one more week to go! As much as I have loved this experience I will be happy to return home. This week I mainly focused on wrapping up my research, finishing my website, and writing my final report. I have also started packing and awaiting the arrival of my parents to come and take me home. I has been hard going ten weeks without good southern cooking.
For reading group this week we read three papers discussing puzzles, boolean logic circuits, and the complexity of the puzzles and boolean logic. The papers we read were: Picture Hanging Puzzles, Any Monotone Boolean Function Can be Realized by Interlocked Polygons, and The Complexity of Sliding-Block puzzles and Plank Puzzles. I found these reading very interested since I love doing block puzzles and logic games. It was interesting to see how games that appear to be simple can be so complex to solve.
This week was really a week of wrapping up. I redesigned my website and got it to a place where I am happy with the results. I also started planning out my final report. I have yet to actually write a first draft but I have done a couple outlines and planned out what I am going to write and how to execute it. I also tried to wrap up my research by looking at the oscillators in each of my subgroups. I am trying to find more commonalities between the oscillators I have found with distinct behaviors. Currently I have not been able to find anything in common with them other than my original behavior grouping. While I plan to spend most of the coming week working on my final report, I also plan to continue my research in hopes of finding just a little more about the classifications and creation.
