JOURNAL: WEEK 5 July 12 - 18, 2009
RESEARCH:
This week consisted of program, program, and more programming. The project feels like it might actual come together by the end of the 10 week period. I spent a lot of time trying things then deciding I did not like it and trying something else. I am implementing my program in Processing, which has proven great for graphics, but not the best item for basic input and output. I feel like I finally have a decent handle on that though. Hopefully as I become more familiar with the language my productivity will go up while the number and randomness of the bugs I create will go down. The program currently opens receives an input file, prints the heat map to the screen and exports it to a PDF. The PDF is a little buggy though. In the next week I hope to get the remainder of the basic features implemented and start adding some interesting things. I have attached an unofficial research plan to this page. The completion of another project in the lab has caused the hold up on getting this document approved.

LIFE:
This weekend the Lab got together for a Pool Part at Professor Williams' house. It was a lot of fun complete with homemade food. :) It was nice to get to see people in a relaxed environment and get to know them better. I have been trying to write my maid of honor speech for my sister's wedding next weekend (July 25), but have so far been unsuccessful. And by unsuccessful I mean all I have is Hello, for those who don't know me, I am Jill younger sister Katie. I guess I will spend most of this weekend working on that. I would like it to be a little longer I think.
