Week 6:
~ Monday, July 2 ~
Meeting with Jessica: we discussed what kind of information we would like to present during the retreat and how to structure the talk so that both parts of the project receive sufficient feedback. Since I am not going to be in Pittsburgh at the time of the retreat I was happy that I could contribute to the talk by creating an intro, which would give a brief description of wiimotes and highlight what people have already done with them.
The rest of the day I worked on the timer for my program. I found a useful website for time conversion.
~ Tuesday, July 3 ~
- Wii-cap session at the motion capture lab
- Graphics meeting: Adam Bargteil's paper on Animating Viscoplastic Materials. It was a great talk and I especially enjoyed the discussion that we had afterward with my lab mates. I also took some notes on how to better structure presentation slides.
~ Wednesday, July 4 ~
BBQ party with friends + awesome fireworks = great way to celebrate 4th of July.
~ Thursday, July 5 ~
- Gathered information and created slides for the retreat presentation
- Idea for the wii-cap sessions: why won't we put extra markers on the wiimotes?
~ Friday, July 6 ~
My presentation |
Tentatively titled "Wii Will Rock You," the presentation seemed to get Jessica's approval. To add a little thrill to the presentation I wrote a GlovePIE script that let me control the slides with a wiimote ;-) It was really neat to talk about the ease of using and adapting the wiimotes to one's needs while practically demonstrating one of the possible applications of the controllers.
Now, I just have to decide whether Jimmy or Takaaki will present the introduction or I whether I can find some way of doing it myself. I think I have an idea...
