I think I'm going to slip into doing weekly updates now. The "daily" updates haven't been happening frequently enough to live up to the name, so this seems a bit easier.

I came back to work after the holiday with my fingers crossed. I'd finished the most crucial of the scripts and set up an hourly cron job to run them over the weekend, and the moment of truth had finally arrived. Did it work? Sadly, the answer was no. There was a bug in the code, and so while the cron job faithfully executed every hour, the data wasn't being saved properly. It took a few tries, but I finally ironed out all the bugs, and by the end of the week I had a database full of information. We're going to let the scripts run for a week, and then we can start analyzing the data.
