Looking Back on My DMP Experience
In one word...awesome (in the truest sense of the word). Through the DMP, I gained insight into what graduate school is really like. I would not have known what to expect, even if I had stayed at Bucknell to do research over the summer (my school is not really a "research university"). I was given the chance to work on a project and to apply what I had learned in school thus far.
I also had the chance to live in a completely different environment (not to mention a completely different part of the country) for 10 weeks. It's not very often that a person is given that kind of chance. And because of it, I found that I really like Austin and could see myself coming here to school and possibly even to live. And finally, I met some really great people (so much so that I don't want to leave!). I am so thankful that I was given and took this chance. It is truly an amazing experience and (especially if your project works) a rewarding experience as well .
What Happens Now?
I guess as the saying goes "all good things come to an end." On Sunday August 25, I'll be heading back to Bucknell University to finish my senior year. Because of my DMP experience, I want to work on an honors thesis. I still don't know whether I want to come to graduate school or find a job after graduation. If I do decide to come to graduate school, I plan on applying to UT either for computer science or electrical and computer engineering.
