Beauty is power; a smile is its sword.

**About My Mentor**

Dr. Barnes is an Assistant Professor at UNCC in the Computer Science Department. She teaches courses in Intelligent Tutoring Systems and Computer Game Design and Development.

((On a personal note)): After graduating from North Carolina State University (NCSU) in December 2003 Dr. Barnes worked as a postdoctoral researcher at NCSU til August 2004, when she became a professor at UNC Charlotte. She bought a house in Summer 2005, which is wonderful, and live there with her husband and three cats.

Her research interests include: Advanced Learning Technologies; Artificial Intelligence, particularly used in Learning Environments, Clustering, and Data Mining; Bioinformatics, particularly in modeling protein translation using coding theory; Effective Teaching Methods; and Combinatorics, particularly Graph Theory related problems.

I have not met ((yet)) a professor that is as fun and active as Dr. Banres. She loves the outdoors and enjoys dancing. With her husband, she teaches and practices dance ((formerly, with Wolves, now with Charlotte Dancesport)), along with Turkish folk dancing with members of The American-Turkish Association-NC. ((SEE?! I wasn't lying!!))
