Week 4

June 5- June 9
During the last week's meeting, we were told to storyboard all the ideas that we thought through last several weeks. Dr. Richter and Dr. Barnes told us that our ideas are pretty good but needed more specifications. Tar, Eve, Paige and I came up with a "Car Racing" game. When we presented the game idea, we all thought that this idea could be big enough to create a seperate game. Although the ideas were great but we were still not sure about how we were going to implement the coding part into the game. Tar also came up with a fishing game that could be used to teach while loops. Basically, the player will walk up to a fishing pond and finds a blind fisherman. Then the player will be able to learn to write loops by continuing to fish for the fisherman until the desired quantities were met. She used the RPG Maker to make her demo.
My idea was teaching nested for loops by using "counting eggs". User has to count the eggs and put them into the crate. I also made a little demo using the RPG Maker. Although we've had many great ideas but they also needed much more work. On Wednesday, Dr. Barnes hosted a cook out for the students and the faculty. We all had such a great time and I really appreaciate the fact that she gave us an opportunity to get to know each other even more.
