My current research interests, at a broad level, include Natural Language Processing, User Modeling, and algorithms. Past research projects include modeling student disengagement and zoning out. These projects, dealing with spoken data, started my interest in using natural language processing--both prosodic and lexical features--to model users' states, both engagement and broader. Since these projects used basic, more naive NLP techniques, I'm looking forward to my current project, correcting student's reported reply-to's in an online forum used for a Computer Science class.

Since I came into Computer Science through Theoretical Mathematics, I'm also very interested in the more theoretical side of Computer Science. As I'm not as familiar in this area, I'm not yet sure what a specific research area in algorithms I'd be interested in.
