Project Information

Title: Timing Experiments in the Internet
Overall Objective: Conduct experiments on the Internet to understand message latency.
Importance: Will permit validation of the partial synchrony model for the Internet, enabling the development of better algorithms.

Objective 1:

Develop necessary technical skills:
  • Network programming
  • Planet Lab
Rationale 1:Needed to conduct and execute experiments.
Objective 2: Background reading.
Rationale 2: Understand research context.
Objective 3: Develop experimental plan, conduct experiments, and summarize results.
Rationale 3:This will provide initial understanding of real internet timing behavior.
