Seclective Encryption

Hello, my name is Van T. Phu and I'm from New Jersey. I was originally from Vietnam and came to the U.S. in 2000. I'm a senior, Computer Science major, Applied Math minor at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). I expect to graduate in May 2005.

At NJIT, I'm a student of the Albert Dorman Honors College and a scholar of the McNair Post Bachelaurate Achievements Program. I'm also a member of the SWE (Society of Women in Engineering) and UPE (Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the Computer Science Honor Society). This Fall 2004 semester, I'm a peer mentor in the Passing the Torch Program, mentoring 7  freshman honor students.

My long term goal is to get a PhD degree in Computer Science. My research interests are digital communication and security related issues, multimedia, image processing and algorithms.

I have several experiences in conducting research with professors at NJIT since Fall 2003, at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Summer 2003 and this time, at the University of South Florida. These valuable opportunities have formed my research interests.

My first experience in research is the REU summer 2003 program in Cyber Security at UC-Boulder. The project that I did was about selective encryption and has been my favorite since then. I wasn't sure if it was the algorithms or the digital communication aspects that I really liked in that project. Now, I think it's both.

Here is a copy of my resume
