Q: What are you studying in school ?
A: " I am currently majoring in computer science at Georgia State University, and I am entering into my Senior year of college. Hopefully, I will be graduating in 2019"
Q: What got you into conducting undergraduate research?
A: "I saw research as an opportunity to apply what I was learning in the classroom, in real life. It then created this want to ask questions about different things, but at the same time it created a want to find those answers for myself. "
Q: Why did you choose to study and research Robotics?
A: " Easy .... I wanted to be apart of the drive to help push the world into the future. Robotics is the most interesting thing to research, that actually has practical applications. Previously I worked on a project that had implantation that Amazon could use for their new drone delivery system. "
Q: What are you currently researching at your home institutions?
A: " I am working in the field of Human Robot Interactions. My work involves looking at the different factors that affect how humans perceive the intensity of the emotions displayed by robots."
Q: What are you plans for after you graduate?
A: " I know for sure that I want to go to graduate school and further my research, but I'm still on the fence about going after a Ph.D. or just a master. One research advisor told me that I should only go after a Ph.D. if what I want to do requires me to need a Ph.D. As of right now, I do not know what I want to do."
Q: What is something you really want to take from this DREU experience?
A: "I really want to expand upon my computer programing abilities. As of this point, I feel like I have not been challenged, in terms of my ability to code."
Q: Would you recommend this sort of program to someone else, whose situation is similar to yours?
A:" YES!!!!! ...... Every student studying a STEM major should be doing some sort of research."
Q: Do you have any words for your Advisors and the people who organize the program?
A: "Thank you so much for help guiding students, like me, and allowing us to really explore different aspects of our respective fields . It is amazing that there are programs, like this one , that try to help people of different backgrounds make an impact in the STEM fields. The success of the students in this program can be directly contributed to the sacrifices and efforts of all those involves."
