My name is Valuable Sheffey.    My home institution is the University of New Mexico (UNM). I am currently a Junior in the College of Engineering majoring in Computer Science. I plan to graduate in spring 2017. At UNM, I participate in Collegiate Kiwanis as the Bulletin Editor (2015-2016). I am also a member of NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers).

I love Computer Science because it fits me well. Computer Science is very logic and analytical, but also hands-on and creative. It is both a right-brained and left-brained endeavor. I have had experience in Java (extensive) and C (rudimentary). Before attending UNM, I worked in the Health Information Management field as a medical coder.

Through DREU, I hope to learn whether research is the right field for me.
