Dr. Gilbert research includes Human-Centered Computin,Databases & Data Analytics, Applications Quest™ Research, Voiceing™ (Texting while driving) Research, Biometrics, Machine learning, and Information Security.
Juan E. Gilbert is an American computer scientist, researcher, inventor, and educator. A role model of diversity in the computing sciences, Gilbert's success in increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in the computing disciplines has been recognized by professional engineering organizations all around and the United States government. In honor of both his outstanding accomplishments and his service to Clemson university, Gilbert was awarded the first Presidential Endowed Chair at Clemson University on November 9, 2012. As a result of Dr. Gilbert's efforts, in 2012, Clemson was home to 10% of the African American computer science professors, and 10% of the African American computer science doctoral students in the United States. In 2014, Dr. Gilbert left Clemson University and joined the Computer & Information Science & Engineering Department at the University of Florida.
