I'm from Puerto Rico, and I'm currently a rising junior (Class 2016) at Boston University studying Psychology with a minor in Computer Science.
I've been highly interested in cognitive science and computational linguistics for some time. In addition, I've done work in Computer Science before, including research internships in Lawrence Livermore National Lab and MIT Haystack-Observatory. My academic interests revolve around the connection between cognitive science, psychology, and linguistics, as well as the application of computer science in these fields-- I think I was matched perfectly to my mentor and project! My goal is to enter a graduate school program in cognitive science or a related field.
My other interests include studying Japanese language and culture--I hope to study abroad in Japan in the future and become fluent in the language. In my spare time I enjoy reading a wide variety of literature; my favorites include British classics, Japanese postmodernist literature, and Latin American magical realism. I've also recently gotten the chance to start figure skating. As you can imagine, it's not a popular sport in Puerto Rico, but I've become very passionate about it.
