6/7 - I ended up walking out to the art museum today because it's "free" on Sundays (it's really pay what you wish, so I gave them all the cash I had -- $2). As a side note, apparently today there was some EPICALLY HUGE bicycle race occuring DIRECTLY in front of the art museum. I asked some bystanders what race it was, but I don't recall the name (apparently, Google thinks it's the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship). It's supposedly like the Tour de France for America, so ... that was exciting? I don't know, I'm not really a bicycling fan... but I did like clapping for them as they crossed the finish line. Anyway, the art museum had a great collection. They had at least one Van Gogh and a few Monets, and that made me happy. There was all kinds of furniture and sculptures too. All in all, a very good day.
6/13 - I lead a very boring life, but it's a fun boring life. My housemates and I get along very well. Today, I played Monopoly with the two Turkish subletters. Mehmet ended up kicking my royal behind and handing it to me. I was the first to go bankrupt, but it's not my fault--he had hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place! There was nothing I could do! Other than that, I've been reading The Case of Charles Dexter Ward by H.P. Lovecraft... I finished that today. It was a great story, but I think the middle dragged on a little bit more than it needed to. I would have preferred a more condensed story, but I suppose some of that was necessary, and nothing really took away from the story... so all-in-all, I would definitely recommend it. I also baked cookies today for the first time in years--they came out very well, smashing in fact. Our resident baker Nathan even said to me "Even though I was skeptical at first, your cookies came out very well." so that was exciting. He was skeptical because I use Splenda and whole wheat flour in my cooking... but they were still good. No plans for tomorrow--thinking I'll go for a nice long walk down Chestnut and explore that. We shall see!
