My mentor is Professor Maja Mataric of the University of Southern California. Professor Mataric's research focuses on assistive interactive robots, or robots that have the ability to help other people through social interaction rather than through physical contact. Because intelligent human-robot interaction includes many other disciplines besides Computer Science, her work also draws on topics from neuroscience, psychology, health, and education. The place where all her research takes place is in the USC Interaction Lab.
David Feil-Seifer
David Feil-Seifer, a Ph.D. student at the University of Southern California, is the student mentor for my project. He is interested in assistive interactive robots. David is currently focusing on developing a robot that interacts with people with cognitive disorders, such as autism and cerebal palsy, for robot classroom interaction.
