Fun fun fun: Green Lake Park

Green Lake is located right next to Woodland Park (where the Woodland Park Zoo and the rose garden are). It's not very far from the U. District, maybe about a half a hour walk, or a 10 min. bike ride. You could probably also take a bus. The lake is about 3 miles around, and there is a paved path all the way round; you will see many runners, walkers, bikers, and roller bladers all the time.

There is a place to rent different kinds of boats (paddle, kayak, etc) and also a "beach" or two; the lake is safe to swim in (at least I swam in it :)) so it's a great place to relax at on a sunny day.
