Fun fun fun: Golden Gardens Beach and Park

I rode to Golden Gardens Beach on my bike. It's about 10 miles from my house, but if you ride along the bike trails along Lake Union and then the Sound, it's a really fun, relaxing ride. Apparently there's lots to do at the park besides be lazy at the beach, like go for a hike in the hill, for example. See the website for details.

The beach itself is nice because there's a great view of the Sound and the Olympic mountains in the distance. Apparently it's a popular spot for bonfires and barbeques in the evening, so there is a lot of charcoal in the sand. Also, there's lots of seaweed in the water, and it's really cold, so you can't swim :( But if you just want to relax and get a tan (or a sunburn, like me), it's great.
