Week 1: June 7 - 11
- I spent Monday through Wednesday learning HTML (which I hadn't
used before) and building this website.
- Learning HTML wasn't difficult since it's not complicated and
I had a reference book.
- It was a little tricky to get a space where I could put up
my page. I wanted to get space from Cornell (where I go to school) so
my page would not have ads. However, the way Cornell's system is set
up, to sign up for webspace, your computer must be connected directly
to a modem (not through a router). We have a router and it's pretty
finicky about being disconnected and reconnected so it took me a little
while to appease the router and obtain my webspace.
- I couldn't get my pictures lined up how I wanted until a
friend reccommended I look up tables in my HTML book. It turns out
tables are really useful for arranging things nicely onscreen.
- I spent Thursday and Friday reviewing the hardware description
language, VHDL. I had worked with VHDL a little in one of my classes
freshman year, so I read the VHDL chapters from that course's textbook,
reviewing what I had forgotten and studying concepts my class had not
covered.
