Journal Entry 1: May 27 - May 31
- First week we got to know our mentor, learn about what we will be working on, and got settled in to our apartment as well as certain places on campus. We had to finish our IRB training and create our websites. I was having a hard time getting the IRB training to work as well as uploading my website. Thankfully my roommate helped me figure out what the problem was. Also we each had to read paper on research on the fields that we will be working on that was very interesting to me. On Wed, May 29 at 10:30am we got to experience one of the events that our mentor set up at the Foucd on Seniors. They presented alexa and how they are trying to program her for senior. The seniors had to fill out a survey which they were given a fitbit for completing it. They also got to try to make alexa turn on and off a fan, as well as turn on and off a light which could also change colors.
Journal Entry 2: June 3 - June 7
- Second week I worked on learning JavaScript and Node.js. I am also learning how to use THREE.js, Aframe, and React which are all softwares for creating virtual reality worlds. I also had to think of some ideas on how our virtual reality world would look like and what would be in it. This process has been very challenging for me to this of how i wanted the world to look. I definitly got feedback on my ideas from my friends and family, I also have to present my ideas tomorrow (June 10, 2019).
Journal Entry 3: June 10 - June 14
- This week we changed how we were creating the virtual world. We decided to use a program called "Unity" to create our virtual world and use another program called "Blender" to create the objects in our virtual world. Since we are using Unity we have to learn how to use C++. We are learning how to code in C++ and also learning how to use Unity and blender.
Journal Entry 4: June 17 - June 21
- This week we are still working on tutorials with C#, Unity, and Blender. We changed the whole look of our virtual world and now I have the help of my roommate. We got to sit in on a lecture on thursday(June 20), it was very interesing and I learned some new things about computer science. Dr. Anderson gave use the idea of maybe making what we are working on into a hologram because the virtual reality headsets are on back order for 6 months. So now we have to figure out how to do that, or we could make it where the player has to control using the "WASD" key and when they want to make it into virtual world we can show them how to do that before we leave.

Asked Dr. Anderson if she could get us addition help on the research and she will get back to us.
Journal Entry 6: July 1 - July 5
- This week we are still working on tutorials with C#, Unity, and Blender. Dr. Anderson found another student who could help us work on the research and help with creating. Dr. Anderson was also able to get the vr headset sooner, on Monday(July 8). When it comes in we have to change the project and make the head movements with the headset. We only have the last part of our research to do, but I think it will move a lot faster now that we have someone else helping us.
Journal Entry 7: July 8 - July 12
- This week we are still working in Unity to get the research done.
Journal Entry 8: July 15 - July 19
- This week we are still working in Unity to get the research done. We are almost done with the base model of the project.
