Home/Research Project My Mentors Journals Pictures DREU: Distributed Research Experiences for Undergraduates
Week 2: June 6- June 10
This week, I faced many challenges with the robot. There where situations in which the robot would not respond to our programming due to the low batteries, and there are other times where the robot will continue to run even after we stopped running the program. Even if the
environment of my workplace is slow, dull and quiet, there are some moments in which I simply cannot stop laughing when one of my team
members is chasing after the robot even after the robot has been disconnected from the program.
Monday, June 6-
- Continued on “Hello World” programming from Chapter 3 of Crash Course.
- Difficulty programming the bumper sensors.
- Received incorrect results due to low battery on the Create.
Tuesday, June 7,
- Attended weekly meeting.
- Continued on with coding.
- Problem in coding with a “segmentation fault.”
- After hours of trying to solve the problem, we counselted Read for help.
- Read also had trouble with the error.
- Began improving the Bumper, Transition and Rotation function while Read consulted the error.
Wednesday, June 8
- Continued to solve “segment fault” error.
- Read consulted Jory. Jory suggested a “.Read();” line. This fixed the problem on the bumpers and the “segmentation fault.”
- Attended Brown Bag Lunch at the Health and Science building for a short lecture on the many activities being provided.
- Attended Troy’s defense at 2pm.
- Continued and finished RobotController programming from Chapter 3 of Crash Course.
- Began Multi-Agent System programming from Chapter 3.
Thursday, June 9
- Batteries completely gave out on us.
- Looked up information online for ways to improve our coding.
Friday June 10
- Arrival of some batteries allowed us to continue with the Multi-Agent System programming.
- Test runs on the Create.
Goals for next week:
- Finish Multi-Agent System.
- Properly program the Create to successfully finish the Multi-Agent System.
- Continue on with the Crash Course.
- Remember my co-workers names.
