Week 1: May 30-June 3
All this week, I have enjoyed walking to the Computer Science and Engineering Building. I have been introduced to the lab, worked on some assignments on a Crash Course and with the help of Eli and Brandon, I have been able to familiarize myself with the terminal.
Monday May 30, 16 -
- I arrived at College Station
Tuesday May 31-
- Attended a Welcome Breakfast for all summer interns.
- Met with Read and Diane, was introduced to the office and to the rest of the Parasol Team. I was also given a key to the lab.
- Interacted with the rest of the interns while waiting to be given my Username and Password in order to accest the lab's computers
- Began on Lesson 0 of a Crash Course and read Nancy’s Expectations for Her Students.
- I soon began Lesson 1 of Crash Course
Wednesday June 1-
- Attended Chinwe’s and Jory’s defense. (Both very informative.)
- Began reading the two research papers in Lesson 1
- Began familiarizing myself with the Terminal and Linux with the help of Diane.
- Read “An Introduction to the Linux Command Shell For Beginners” to understand Linux commands.
- Ended Lesson 1 and began on Discussion Questions of Lesson 1 on Crash Course.
- Began on Lesson 2 of Crash Course
Thursday June 2-
- Finished the Discussion Questions on Crash Course.
- Attended Lunch hosted by the Computer Science and Engineering Building (Thanks to Mrs. Roberts)
- Ended Lesson 2 and began answering Discussion Questions of Lesson 2.
- Began Lesson 3.
- Discussed questions with Read, Diane and the rest of my co-workers.
- Began reading new assignments from Lesson 3.
Friday June 3-
- Finished reading assignments from Lesson 3. (Astonished by the type of model that was built, the experiments conducted, and the results obtained.)
- Continued on Lesson 3
- Began programming the creates (Multi-Agent systems).
- Worked on Weekly Report.
Goals for next week:
- Finish Lesson 3
- Successfully program the creates.
- Become comfortable with asking and accepting help from the PhD students.
