DREU Week 8: Merging and testing the branch code

During my 8th week, I worked mostly on trying to merge my code with the branch code I checked out, and to make them work without any errors. An adjustment to our code to be able to use the convex hull property was made by PhD student Diane, and I tried to get this adjustment to work with my AnalyzeStrategy so we could run some tests.

We had our weekly Motion planning meeting, where we (summer interns) gave a brief whiteboard presentation on our project, why it is important and difficult, what we accomplished so far, and what we had left to do. We got more understanding of our projects and what it was all about.

Later, I worked more with my strategy and got the convex hull property to work. I was also able to assign scores based on where my samples were located relative to the convex hull. These scores would help us make decisions the possibility of the sample’s location being a binding site. I also successfully merged my code with the branch code and got it to work.

Next we started checking in code to the branch so each of us to get access to what we worked on individually. I checked for standards on some of the files that were to be checked in, then I worked on some scripts to be used for running tests on the project.

Later I attended a brown bag lecture on research posters and presentations, which gave me some ideas on how the posters should be made and some ways to go about getting relevant information on it. I also met with my Post Doc mentor Shawna, and PhD student Diane, to talk about what we wanted on our poster, and divided the work so we could start putting it together.

Later that week, I began running tests using different samplers to get results that would establish why our choice sampler (UOBPRM) was the best suitable for the project.
