My fourth week was focused on understanding as much as I could about machine learning as the ligand binding code was being prepared. I went through a tutorial prepared by PhD student Diane, which gave insight into the basics of machine learning. Then I met with my group on the project to talk about the tutorial and answer questions based on our understanding of the material and how it applies to our ligand binding project.

After this I began a second tutorial on machine learning, which was more focused on what we needed for our project. Then I did some research on the neural network libraries we are going to make use of in the project. Machine learning has always been a subject I wanted to learn about, and this week, I got to learn a lot about it.
