THE PROJECT

My project involves haptic perception and visual dominance in a virtual environment. My work will

contribute to a user study in which the relative weights that people give thier visual and haptic input

are compared. They user will feel the size of an object while simultaneously seeing a visual

representation of an object that has been altered to be slightly bigger or slightly smaller. In addition to

this, there will be types of visual input:

• with no visual indication of hand position
• with avatar hands that have been tracked to be in the place of their own hands are displayed
• with a video see-through representation of their own hands
