Abby Malkey's REU Page

My name is Abby Malkey and I am a sophomore at Texas A&M University. I major in computer science and plan to graduate in 2017. My mentor is Dr. Nancy Amato, a professor at Texas A&M with research in the areas of parallel and distributed computing, motion planing, computational sciences, and computational biology. Her website is: https://parasol.tamu.edu/~amato/.

I work on STAPL, the Standard Template Adaptive Parallel Library. It is the parallel version of the C++ STL. My research project consists of creating test cases for statistics problems in parallel and running them on different numbers of processors to compare the strong- and weak-scaling of the computations. These cases will be included in the STAPL user guide to show how basic algorithms can be implemented in parallel by a beginner.
