Project Description

Often in Chicago it rains an abundant amount of water. This water tends to overflow in the ground into peoples' yards, basements, alleyways, streets, and eventually into the sewers. When the water has overflown the sewer and it cannot make it to the treatment plant, the city tends to just release all of the water back into Lake Michigan. This includes treated water, untreated water, and any other toxic waters. This is ruining the Lake and eventually will ruin the environment.

The water one flushes down the toilet may go straight back into the Lake.

  • Water can accumulate to about a foot on the streets and sidewalks, which ruins these transportation systems.
  • The excess water floods/ruins basements
  • Creates mud pits for yards
