Journal Entries - Week Two
Tuesday
I read
some of the new research papers I was given and made the presentation
summarizing the papers. I also started working on some of the research
questions I was given. I did this for two social networking sites today,
Facebook, and Twitter.
Wednesday
I did more
research on websites. I have finished six of the top social networking
sites. I also started reading more of the papers I was given.
Thursday
I read a
couple more of the research papers and briefly skimmed the ones I had
already read to add highlighting to them to help me understand them
more. Most of the papers don't really delve into the topic of collective
privacy or how to address the issue. All the papers were on privacy
features on the individual level. One paper was on join privacy features
in email systems, which was probably the most interesting to read.
Though the technical part of the paper was confusing to read.
Friday
I
met with my mentor again. The PhD student who is working on the coding
part of the program was also there. My mentor wants me to make
presentation summaries on the rest of the papers I had read this week
and to finish up the top 15 social sites research. I am also to start
working on some code and test cases for the program next week. I was
going to work on some of that today but I still don't have an account to
the ITS building to log into the computers there. We tried various
work-arounds, but nothing worked out.
