About This Site
This site is built to document my partipation in the CRA-W Distributed Research Experiences for Undergraduates (DREU) program 2010. I am very honored to be selected as one of the sixty-six participants out of approximately 500 applicants nationwide.
About My Mentors
I was originally matched to Prof Glencora Borradaile at the Oregon State University. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the summer, on my way from UIUC campus to the Chicago O'hare airport (heading for DREU), the shuttle in which I was a passenger had a roll-over accident in which I sustained a L1 spine fracture and had to wear a brace for at least 3 months.
Since I need to stay in Chambana area for the follow-up treatments, I was re-assigned to two mentor professors from the Department of Computer Science at my home school - University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign. They are Prof Karrie Karahalios in the Social Space group, and Prof John Hart in the Graphics group. Prof Karahalios is doing research in Human Computer Interaction, Social Computing, Visualization, Computer Mediated Communication, and Prof Hart is doing research in Computer Graphics and Computational Topology.
