3D Head Shape Quantification for Infants with Deformational Diseases

I am working closely with a grad student, Indriyati Atmosukarto, on her research project. She has done a lot of work with 3D meshes of infant skulls and the 2D histograms that she extracts from the meshes, and was able to devise an automated system that correctly quantifies and localizes the deformational disease Plagiocephaly in infants. I am continuing this project; my goal is come up with ways to quantify the deformational disease Brachycephaly. My other, intermediary goals that will help me to achieve this major goal include achieving familiarity with the program and language MATLAB so that I can directly analyze and manipulate the project data, as well as learning the concepts of principal component analysis so that I can competently perform this high-level analysis.
