Hey! My name is Darla Haigler, and I am currently pursuing a computer science undergraduate degree at Austin College in Sherman Texas. I will be a senior this year and graduate in May '07. I plan to attend graduate school with a focus in possibly graphics/visualization.
During the summer of 2005 I attended a software engineering internship for ACS (Associated Colleges of the South) in Georgetown, TX. This entailed integrating open source technologies into a web-based Java application using the Extreme Programming methodology with nine other students from colleges across the southern US. Our digital library application, Manu, is used to archive, publish, search, and share original or born-digital documents.
This summer I am doing research at Texas A&M through the DMP Program as a member of Dr. Nancy Amato's Parasol Group. I am working with Bryan Boyd to develop the Campus Navigator, which was started by Akhil Patel.
I had the privlege to attend my first computer science conference, WAFR (Workshop on Algorithmic Foundations of Robotics) in New York City. The above picture was taken in Times Square during this trip. This was a wonderful experience!
