Distributed Mentor Project 2004
Chelsea Robertson
Welcome
I first heard about the CRA-W Distributed Mentor Project during my sophomore
year. Amie Souter, a former professor and Bucknell graduate came back for a
luncheon with the women CS students, to talk about the program and encourage us
to apply. She had participated as a student, and is now involved as a mentor.
Some of the older students had participated the previous summer and talked about
their experiences. It sounded like a great opportunity, but I didn't think I was
ready. So I decided to keep it in mind for next summer.
I was encouraged again to apply for it this year by my graphics professor,
Patricia Wenner. So I decided to apply, and was chosen to participate
in the DMP. I have been matched with Professor Justine Cassell at Northwestern
University in Evanston, Illinois. This page is devoted to my summer research
experience at Northwestern University.
