Interests

I have been looking forward to the summer because I don't get to read many novels during the school year. I am reading Tales of Protection written by Erik Hansen and translated from Norwegian by Nadia Christensen. So far, it is a beautiful book. I spent almost all of my summers in middle school and high school reading.

I also really like watching FoodTV. If the TV is on and I'm around, it's on FoodTV. I've only made a few things I've seen on the shows (a yule log and some dog treats) over all the years I've been watching. My favorite shows are Sweet Dreams, Sara's Secrets, and Food 911.

One of my other main interests is sewing. I made a queen-sized quilt all by myself the summer between eleventh and twelfth grade. It's yellow and blue, my favorite colors. I also made a quilt out of old blue jeans the summer after my freshman year of college. I crocheted a bed-sized blanket for my boyfriend during winter break of my sophomore year of college. I have also cross-stitched a lot of little things.

So I don't sound like a stereotypical woman, I'll write about my other interests.

I really enjoy programming. I didn't take a programming class until my senior year of high school, but while I was in that class, I decided that programming would be the job for me. Before I took that class, I actually planned to teach deaf kids. I had taken many sign language classes, and I worked with the special education students at my school. The handicapped boy I spent most of my time with used sign language because he couldn't speak. At the time, I was also considering majoring in math. I have liked math since I was in seventh grade. But after being in the programming class, I knew that programming would make me the happiest.

Since meeting my boyfriend, I have been reintroduced to video games. I bought my own GameCube, and I am playing Zelda and Animal Crossing this summer. Animal Crossing is very addictive, and very cute.

Here are some random facts about me. I was a vegetarian from eighth grade until the middle of twelfth grade. Now, I enjoy a good hamburger again. I learned how to ride a unicycle several years ago. I don't know if I still know how. I have two different sets of stilts, the stick kind you hold behind your arms and a pair that strap to your feet. I spent a week in Paris and London with my father when I was in tenth grade. I am hoping to go to Italy sometime soon.
