| BACK TO HOME PAGE My name is Anna Fiorentino. I am going into my senior year as a Bioinformatics major at the College of Staten Island in New York. For those who don't know Staten Island is one of the five boroughs in New York City. Bioinformatics is a new major that fuses the fields of biology and computer science. I was very fortunate to be chosen as one of the students to participate in the Distributed Mentor Project. I want to broaden my knowledge in computer science so that I can be a better candidate for graduate school. I am hoping to get my master's degree in Bioinformatics or a related field such as Biotechnology. I am fascinated with using the computer to solve problems in biology. I would love to work on finding new treatments for genetic diseases. In my spare time I work on campus helping incoming freshmen get acquainted with college life. I also tutor students in the sciences and mathematics. My first interest was to become a writer, but then I realized I would rather keep that as a hobby than a career. I enjoy watching movies , sitcoms, and my soap opera Passions. Well that's me in a nutshell ( I never really understood that saying ). |
