Today I finished the introduction to my paper. Sometimes the introduction is the hardest part because you need to summarize everything that you will discuss in the paper without going into so much detail. Anyway, I have stopped trying to find research articles, now I am strictly concentrating on the paper, and the rest of the project. Putting all the information I gathered together is a difficult task because I found so much information on specific ideas, such as modeling the brain of a schizophrenic patient using ART. I found a document thirty-three pages long. It is wonderful to actually have access to all this information however I donít want my paper to look jumbled; I want it to be organized and cohesive.

Today my mom and aunt came to visit me. I did my laundry and they brought me lots of food!
June 9th
Today me and my mom and aunt went to Newport, Rhode Island. Itís a very cute little town. We went shopping, and ate seafood, because what else is there on the East Coast.
June 10th
I finished my paper today. I discovered so much about ART. ART is widely used in medicine. Its been used to diagnose cardiac arrhythmia, possibly schizophrenia. Its been used to show the damaged brain circuits in patients with Parkinsonsís and other diseases related with motor function. Feel free to criticize my grammar on this paper. I have a personal habit where I donít like to read my work, because I will be overcritical of myself. Since society is already critical about everything I donít want to add to it.

June 11th
Today I began trying to program the ART1 algorithm using MATLAB. I like MATLAB because you can get nice detailed graphs for your output. I looked at the books I have to decide how I am going to write the code. I have two books, one uses MATLAB specifically to program ART and the other is more detailed in its applications and the algorithm used to program for any language. I looked on the Internet to see shareware/freeware code to see if thereís any code on the web I can use to modify for our application (medicine). I did find some code, so I can work from there. The code uses many for loops as is described in the ART1 algorithm, however I donít like the output I was getting. I kept getting the same output for any data I input. I have to try another code or different data. I also took some leisure time today so I could watch my soap opera, Passions. I watch it because I like the plot lines and the characters, and the messes the characters get themselves into. Some of the show is weird but that is what makes it original. Itís not that soapy. I also read a little today. I like reading Linda Howard books; she writes romance/mystery novels that are very enjoyable. I can sometimes read a book a day if the book is really interesting. Well back to my project. I need a code that is going to give me an output that is understandable.
June 12th
Today I tried to solve my code frustration. I realized that I was coding the input wrong. I had to write the input in a matrix so then the output could be a matrix. I borrowed the code from the Internet as I said before. The website is http://matlab_tools.myetang.com/index_e.htm. It has a lot of great neural network tools for MATLAB. I could program in C++ but I like the visual effects I can create using MATLAB. I modified the code to fit our project. I also developed a function to see the pattern visually. After I deciphered the code I created my own code. Now I just need to place my function in the main program and hope it runs.
