Finishing up

27 Jul 2017

It's July 27th and I am almost done with the project! Well at least enough to give the group a great starting point of an end to end system. Lea (a person on the team) has really stepped up as a leader and is really leading us in the right direction.

Finishing off the week

19 Jul 2017

It's July 19th and I am making serious head way in regards to visualizing the textures. I am using the right files now! Also we are really making it clear how all our parts will interact and I can see how it will all come together in the end. It's a shame I only have like 2 weeks left but I might continue with the project after I leave Pittsburgh.

My week so far

14 Jul 2017

It's July 14th and my mentor just got back in town and we realized what I've been working on has already been done! Great way to waste two weeks but I learned a lot in that time and was having a little bit of fun. But now back on track to what we actually need done.

Ready for the weekend

10 Jul 2017

It's July 10th and I am still working on visualizing textures. It has been very difficult parsing knitspeak into readable things. It seems like this is a project in and of itself.

Diving back in

5 Jul 2017

This past week I was in St. Augustine with my family.

Its July 5th, and I have been working on texture visualization. I was also paretnered up with another CMU student who will help me with the interface! I am very excited for some help on this project while I figure out the visualization.

Summing up the week

26 Jun 2017

I have been working on learning how to open up the base code, which was much more difficult that expected. But it works! Now that I have everything working, I hooked up the interface to the back end. Now I am working on visualizing the textures.

Getting into the swing of things

19 Jun 2017

Today I worked on making this website to showcase my research and my struggles with it. I think it is working out pretty well thus far.

I have made serious progress on my interface, you can influence the size and color of a scarf now! It all works!

There is another girl in the program named Lindsay. She is also working with Jen but on another project

The first week

6 Jun 2017

Today I met Professor Mankoff, who likes to be called Jen as well as the PhD student who has been working with the knitting code the most. Today was just a general overview of what we have thus far.

I was assigned creating the user interface for designing sweaters using the knitting machine compiler. I will connect the front end to the back end and create a cohesive and beautiful design. We decided that Processing would be the easiest thing for me to learn to create the interface. The learning is coming slowly... but I'm hoping I will have a breakthrough soon.

Overall, it looks like the summer is going to be really fun and challenging! I can't wait to dive into the project in further detail!
