WEEK 2

No spoilers, but the new Wonder Woman movie is EPIC. Eleven members of the lab here (including Dr. Chattopadhyay) went to see it together. I have also been looking into finding a yoga studio near my apartment, because a yoga mat and YouTube videos in my room just aren’t cutting it.

Work stuff!
This week, I have been (again) working on the Fitt’s Law exercise. In particular, I have been learning how to use RStudio to do statistics in the programming language R. I had never been exposed to this language before, so while the task was easy I definitely got lost in the weeds at some points by overcomplicating things.

That being said, at this point all the code is working, both for data collection and statistics, and all that’s left to do is take the data using the Kinect, which I will be doing today.

Aside from the exercise, I have also been reading copious amounts of literature on statistics, sketching, and various HCI related topics. My original idea was to look into the effects of different colored backgrounds and text on people with dyslexia when asked to select items from a menu or read a short passage. However, because of the complexity of that study, I will not be able to do so and have been branching out as far as possible into literature to find ideas for my (8 week) summer project.
