My Dreu

I was placed at the April robotics lab at the University of Michigan. This summer the focus is creating the next generation of the labs team of robots that won the Magic competiton in 2010. My area was research was developing a betters system for the robots to communicate with one another. The first generation of Magic robots used a basic flooding protocol to transmit information to other robots. While effective, this method of communication is terribly innecfficient and puts a lot of strain on the network. Another issue with the current implementation of flooding used by the robots is that would not work if the number of robots in the system was increased.

My Mentor is Edwin Olson, the director of the lab. Besides his work in multi-robot systems, Professor Olson also does work with autonomous vehicles. Here is a link to his page on the lab's website.
