My name is Jess Martin and I’m a 22 year old student at Mills College. I just graduated with my Bachelors in Mathematics on May 14, 2011. I started working towards my Masters in Interdisciplinary Computer Science in Spring of 2010, but didn’t realize that was my plan until Fall of 2010. I’ll be graduating from the Mills College 4+1 ICS Program in the Fall of 2011. I hope to continue working with mathematics and computer science as well as work towards getting more young people interested in both fields.

Documenting My DREU Mentorship

I’m spending my summer working with Professor Amy Hurst at University of Maryland Baltimore County. Professor Hurst works in the Human-Centered Computing department and is passionate about solving current social problems with technology. Her research goal is to “develop technology that automatically adapts to existing human behaviors based on unobtrusive detection of human actions.”
