Research Project and Goals

I am working on the Looking Glass Project at Washington University in St. Louis with Caitlin Kelleher and a group of Graduate and Undergraduate students. Looking Glass is a programming environment designed mainly for middle school students to encourage and augment learning in the field of computer science and programming. My project for the summer will be working on integrating the community aspect into the Looking Glass IDE, so that users can access features like asking for help and inspiration directly from Looking Glass. My focus will be on updating the Looking Glass IDE and working on the help functionality. Thus, the goals for this summer are to think about, prototype, user test and implement this help section in Looking Glass. My “proposal” blog post provides more details on how I plan on accomplishing this.
