Week Four
(June 27 - July 3)

As I progressed with the building of the hierarchal data structure from the database given by the Ohio State University datacenter, there was need to constantly do some modifications in order to fit our upcoming needs in the project. This was done all week as I always asked Jing’s opinion on the matter. In the process, I learned how to use a software program call Graphviz that provides means of coming up with a clean data tree. The program required a lot of data input and this was really time-consuming as I was dealing with a lot of data.

For the following part of the project, we will measure the amount of energy flow through the OSU datacenter.  This will require working in the datacenter all day. We thus started the processes to be authorized to access the datacenter and by the end of the week, we had full authorization. We made our first visit to the datacenter and were given a tour, describing to us the organization of the datacenter. From this tour, we were able to plan on the type and amount of measurements we will need to take in the datacenter. The measurements will start next week.

This week seemed less busy as compared to last week. I worked from home again, but met with Jing and Dr. Stewart at the university. I had the chance of meeting with another Cameroonian here with whom I became well acquainted. At the end of the week, we went to church together and visited a couple of places in the city. We also made plan to visit a movie theatre before the end of my stay in Ohio.
